Here is one of my 'contemporary' makeup ideas in relation to the Elizabethan period. I have stuck with a pale face to relate to the wealth and class of the Elizabethan era. It showed wealth and class as the people with a pale complexion did not have to work. The people who had to work usually had sun tans which was a very obvious giveaway as to whether a person had money or not.
I have also stuck to rose coloured cheeks, but have accentuated the facial features taking it along the cheek bone, instead of creating a circular motion on the apples of the cheeks (which is what they did in the Elizabethan era).
I have used a gleam highlighter from Illamasqua on the brow bone, the ridge of the nose, and just above the upper lip on the bow of the upper lip. This will help to accentuate the facial features creating more of a beautiful finished look.
To make sure the look is more contemporary overall, I have gone for a slight 'ombre' effect on the lips. It will be a mixture of a deep shimmered brown with a gold shimmer in the middle of the lips. This will help to make them look fuller. I can also relate gold's and shimmers to the wealth of the Elizabethan era to the wealth of today. To make sure the whole look works together, I have gone for golds, silvers and shimmers on the eyes too. This will help to keep continuity throughout the look. I am going for a simple but glamorous finished look to represent wealth and class.
For this particular look, I have also purchased a gold and silver head chain to make sure the overall look is complete. I think it will work well with the rest of the makeup - and hair.
